Group Manager, Research and Strategy Group, Department of Education, Australia

Mr English has worked in the Australian Government for more than twenty years across a range of portfolios.  This includes the Finance, Immigration and Prime Ministers portfolio.  In these roles Mr English has advised on a range of economic, strategic and social policy issues, such as education, workplace relations, tax reform, federal relations, immigration and border control, Indigenous affairs and employment programs.  Mr English joined the Department of Education in January 2014 as Group Manager of the Research and Strategy Group, responsible for policy and programs in the areas of research, research infrastructure, access and equity.  He has undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in economics.
